Volunteerism as a Catalyst for Socioeconomic Development in Algeria: Insights from the "Green Algeria" and "White Algeria" Initiatives

This paper explores the role of volunteerism as a driving force for socioeconomic development in Algeria, focusing on two emblematic initiatives: Green Algeria and White Algeria. It examines how volunteer-based movements contribute to community resilience, environmental awareness, and social inclusion in a transforming economy. Through a qualitative and analytical approach, the study highlights the multidimensional impact of civic engagement—ranging from local economic revitalization to national solidarity. The findings suggest that volunteerism not only strengthens social capital but also acts as a catalyst for sustainable development in the Maghreb context. The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for institutional recognition of volunteer work within public policy frameworks.
