SkillX: A Skill Swap SaaS Platform for Peer Learning and Collaboration
SkillX is an innovative peer-to-peer skill exchange platform built using the MERN stack that enables users to both teach and learn skills in an interactive, gamified environment. The platform introduces a unique credit-based learning system where teaching for one hour earns one credit that can be used to learn from others. Users can discover new connections through a Tinder-like “Swipe to Connect” feature and engage in real-time learning via integrated chat and video call systems. SkillX also includes a personalized dashboard that visualizes user progress, streak counters to promote consistent learning, and interest-based clubs for community engagement. The platform focuses on democratizing education through mutual learning, encouraging collaboration, and fostering continuous self-improvement. This paper and project demonstrate the design, architecture, and methodology behind SkillX, highlighting its implementation using Node.js, Express, React.js, MongoDB, Socket.io, and WebRTC.
