A Corpus-Based Study of Collocational Patterns in Academic English Writing

This study investigates the use of lexical collocations in academic English writing among non-native speakers. Using a 200,000-word learner corpus, it compares the frequency and types of verb–noun and adjective–noun collocations with a reference native corpus. Results reveal significant underuse and miscollocations in learner texts, highlighting the need for explicit collocation instruction.
