A Pact that Shakes the World: Saudi Arabia-Pakistan Strategic Security Pact and Awakening of the Muslim World
An extraordinary step towards the Muslim world was taken by signing a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025. The treaty stipulates that any aggression against any of the states would automatically be considered as aggression against all the states, thus a novel dimension of collective security in the Middle East and South Asia will be formed. In this paper, the author reflects on the motives behind the formation of the pact, the regional and global effects of this pact, and how it can change the geopolitics of the world. India and Israel, despite the apparent seeming of being put on red alert and the nightmare of development, respectively, have Washington and Tehran appearing as the watchers of alerts. The article is a historical-analytical argument that the pact signifies the long-awaited awakening of the power of the Muslims through institutionalised cooperation of the defence and makes a warning statement of the threats of escalation, dependence, and polarisation of the bloc.
