Epidemiology of Measles in India over the Last 10 Years (2015–2025)
Measles continues to pose a considerable public health challenge in India, despite major advancements in vaccination and surveillance. This paper explores the epidemiology of measles across India over the last ten years (2015–2025), emphasizing incidence rates, vaccination coverage, regional disparities, and the impact of public health interventions. Data were compiled from the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The analysis indicates a notable decline in measles incidence, parallel with improved vaccination coverage due to the Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign. Nevertheless, sporadic outbreaks persist, especially in regions with low immunization rates. This article provides an extensive review of trends, challenges, and policy recommendations for achieving measles elimination in India.
