Ground-Based Light Curve Follow-up Validation Observations of TESS Object of Interest TOI 5516.01

This study presents follow-up ground-based photometric observations of the TESS Object of Interest (TOI) 5516.01. While the TESS mission identified this candidate as a potential exoplanet host due to periodic dips in brightness, our analysis using ground-based data collected on the night of the predicted transit failed to detect a corresponding signal. We assess the limitations of our data due to observational conditions and investigate the noise level relative to the expected transit depth. The resulting analysis provides useful insight into the challenges associated with confirming marginal TESS detections through ground-based methods.

Abstract

This study presents follow-up ground-based photometric observations of the TESS Object of Interest (TOI) 5516.01. While the TESS mission identified this candidate as a potential exoplanet host due to periodic dips in brightness, our analysis using ground-based data collected on the night of the predicted transit failed to detect a corresponding signal. We assess the limitations of our data due to observational conditions and investigate the noise level relative to the expected transit depth. The resulting analysis provides useful insight into the challenges associated with confirming marginal TESS detections through ground-based methods.
