WHEN EVERY BEAT COUNTS: INSIDE CARDIAC SURGERY
One of the most important procedures in contemporary cardiovascular medicine is still heart surgery, which provides efficient treatment for a number of illnesses, such as heart failure, congenital defects, valve problems, and coronary artery disease. Results have greatly improved in the last few decades due to developments in prosthetic devices, perioperative care, imaging, and surgical techniques. This article examines the state of heart surgery today, covering procedure types (e.g., valve replacement and repair, coronary artery bypass grafting, and congenital surgery), the development of robotic-assisted and minimally invasive techniques, and the recovery period following surgery. Heart surgery continues to be one of the most significant procedures in modern cardiovascular medicine, offering effective treatment for a variety of conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, congenital defects, and valve issues. Over the past few decades, advancements in surgical techniques, imaging, perioperative care, and prosthetic devices have significantly improved results. The current state of heart surgery is examined in this article, which also discusses the development of robotic-assisted and minimally invasive techniques, the recovery period after surgery, and procedure types (such as valve replacement and repair, coronary artery bypass grafting, and congenital surgery).
