Libraries in the Age of <scp>LLMs</scp> : Perceptions, Practices, and the Future of Scholarly Work

ABSTRACT As large language models (LLMs) become increasingly embedded in academic and cultural infrastructures, libraries are facing both renewed opportunities and unprecedented challenges. This panel brings together practitioners and scholars from across library, information, and data science to explore how LLMs are reshaping public perceptions of libraries, transforming internal workflows and services, and altering the landscape of scholarly communication. Through a combination of case studies, conceptual analysis, and audience engagement, the session aims to foster a deeper understanding of how libraries are adapting to, resisting, and reimagining their roles in an AI‐driven research ecosystem. This panel is sponsored by SIG‐STI.
