Ground-based light curve follow-up validation observations of TESS object of interest TOI 3873.01

The TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) Mission has imaged roughly 85% of the night sky (Mehta, 2021) and has found 7,658 exoplanet candidates with the transit method. This paper aims to provide a ground-based follow-up validation of the exoplanet candidate TOI 3873.01 to provide evidence that it is not a false positive. We took 63 sciences of the area of the sky surrounding TOI 3873 using a 90s exposure time. After discarding 3 images because of streaking issues, the remaining 60 images were reduced, plate solved and then were used to fit a light curve using AstroImageJ. A partial transit was found although an eclipsing binary cannot be ruled out.

Abstract

This paper aims to provide a ground-based follow-up validation of the exoplanet candidate TOI 3873.01 to provide evidence that it is not a false positive. We took 63 sciences of the area of the sky surrounding TOI 3873 using a 90s exposure time. After discarding 3 images because of streaking issues, the remaining 60 images were reduced, plate solved and then were used to fit a light curve using AstroImageJ. A partial transit was found although an eclipsing binary cannot be ruled out.
