Bio-Leather Exploration from Renewable Resources; A Circular Material Innovation

The study examines biodegradable leather made from fruit waste as a sustainable alternative to traditional fashion accessories. This study evaluates the durability, water resistance, and aesthetics of banana peel and pineapple leaf extracts. Experimental research shows that biodegradable leather meets practical requirements while reducing environmental impact. Surveys and interviews indicate that design and sustainability are key factors influencing the purchase of environmentally sustainable products, particularly among younger consumers. By transforming agricultural waste into premium biodegradable materials, biodegradable leather can help create a circular economy in the fashion industry. Manufacturing scalability, consumer education, material science, and market integration are discussed. This research enables designers, brands, and governments to incorporate biodegradable leather into mainstream fashion, thereby helping to meet global sustainability goals. The study promotes resource efficiency, emission reduction, and sustainable industry practices to advance SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
