Digital Curation Education for New Forms of Disappearance
ABSTRACT We are encountering new forms of disappearance that shape our digital landscape ‐ budgets, access permissions, platforms, and datasets are disappearing rapidly and unpredictably. How do we teach students about preservation, metadata and curation of digital objects in this unstable setting? What new concepts of trust and trustworthiness are needed to meet this moment? Which commitments and principles can serve to ground digital curation practice in these uncertain times? This panel asks how we can approach digital curation education in this environment in order to have difficult, but productive conversations. The panel will feature short presentations from panelists; followed by a moderated group discussion between panelists and audience members.
