The Reality of Gifted Student Education Programs at King Abdulaziz University: A Case Study
This study aims to explore the reality of identifying and nurturing gifted students at King Abdulaziz University. A qualitative research methodology was employed using interviews and document analysis. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight supervisors responsible for gifted student care programs at the university. Six documents related to gifted student care at King Abdulaziz University were also analyzed. The results indicated the absence of a written policy for gifted student care at King Abdulaziz University, but rather diverse practices across several sectors within the university that lack integration. The results also demonstrated the positive impact of gifted student programs on scientific competitions and international invention exhibitions. The study presents several recommendations, most notably the need to establish a central entity to care for gifted students, based on a specific vision and policy that reflects the principles of Saudi Vision 2030 and the most prominent international practices in identifying and nurturing gifted students at the university level.
