Hub Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT) | A Framework for CO2 Transportation in India

The Hub-Only Pipeline Topology (HOPT) is an India-origin framework for large-scale carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) infrastructure. It re-defines national carbon-management geometry by replacing conventional point-to-sink CO₂ pipelines with a hub-based, solid-looping network. In this topology, emitters capture carbon dioxide in solid form using established calcium-looping and hybrid-sorbent (HySORB™) processes and transport the material through existing logistics systems to regional regeneration hubs. By decoupling capture from long-distance gas transport, HOPT can reduce CO₂-pipeline length by more than 60 percent, eliminate most compression stations, and lower lifecycle infrastructure costs by an estimated ₹12–15 lakh crore. The framework integrates with Generation IV Carbon Capture (Gen4CC) standards and aligns with India’s Mission LiFE and Net Zero 2070 goals. HOPT is not a technology seeking validation but a national topology that organizes proven processes into a public-good infrastructure for distributed industrial decarbonization and green-growth employment. It offers a replicable model for Global South economies seeking cost-effective, self-reliant carbon-management systems.
