Self-Efficacy and Its Relationship with Effective Self-Care in Heart Failure

Introduction: Heart failure has become a significant public health issue, with rising patient numbers due to population growth and an aging society. This condition adversely affects patients' quality of life, particularly regarding effective self-care. Research indicates that gender, income, social support, psychological conditions, and patients’ self-efficacy influence well-being. Objectives: This study analyzes the relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behaviors in heart failure patients. Methods: A quantitative correlational analysis was conducted, employing a descriptive correlation approach with univariate and bivariate data techniques. Results: The study included 184 heart failure patients selected through purposive sampling. Findings showed a significant correlation between self-efficacy and self-care, with coefficients of r=0.550, r=0.547, and r=0.694, all significant at p<0.05. Conclusion: High self-efficacy levels are vital in heart failure patients, as they enhance motivation for physical activity, leading to improved self-care and heart health.
