Orbisect Cybersecurity Toolkit: Real-Time CCSDS Anomaly Detection for Satellite Systems

AbstractThe Orbisect Cybersecurity Toolkit is an independent research-driven system designed to analyze CCSDS satellite telemetry and command packets for security anomalies. The toolkit introduces a modular deep-packet inspection engine that detects irregularities in communication sequences, data flow, and protocol behavior across satellite links. This research paper presents Orbisect’s architectural framework, detection algorithms, and operational applications for both defense and educational sectors. By combining protocol-level analytics with behavior-based detection, Orbisect provides early insights into potential interference, spoofing, or cyber intrusion activities in satellite communication systems. The goal of this work is to contribute to ongoing research in secure space operations and promote open, scalable detection models adaptable to future missions.
