DEVELOPMENT OF A REFLECTANCE PULSE OXIMETER FOR PATIENT SELF-MONITORING
Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive method that allows the measurement and monitoring of blood oxygenation and heart rate. This method utilizes the differential absorption of light by oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin to construct a calibration curve and estimate the percentage of oxygen saturation in the bloodstream. This article details the complete development of a portable pulse oximetry device that estimates blood oxygenation using the principle of light absorption via the reflectance method. The project encompasses the design and implementation of its electronic hardware, the physical enclosure, and an accompanying mobile application.
