Trade-off in wetland mineral-associated organic carbon under shrub expansion: quantity over stability
We investigated MAOC content, thermal stability, microbial mineralization and temperature sensitivity across three soil layers (0–15 cm, 15–30 cm, and 30–45 cm) along a natural succession sequence, i.e. wet meadow (as control), dwarf-shrubland (representing the initial stage of shrub expansion), and tall-shrubland (representing the late stage).
