BRIDGING THE GAP: BARANGAY OFFICIALS' PERSPECTIVES ON LGU PROGRAMS AND COLLABORATIVE GOVERNANCE

This study examines the level of satisfaction of barangay officials in selected municipalities in the province of Iloilo with Local Government Unit (LGU) programs aimed at improving community welfare and strengthening local governance. Using a descriptive survey design and cluster sampling, data were gathered from fifty-six barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials representing seven municipalities. The study investigated differences in satisfaction levels when grouped according to location, sex, and designation. Findings revealed that barangay officials were generally "Very Satisfied" with LGU programs, highlighting the positive reception of these initiatives across communities. However, statistical analysis confirmed that satisfaction significantly differed based on location (p = 0.004), suggesting that geographic context influences how programs are delivered and perceived. In contrast, no significant differences were observed in satisfaction levels when grouped by sex (p = 0.418) or designation (p = 0.149). The results emphasize the importance of designing context-sensitive and equitable LGU programs that address geographic disparities while ensuring inclusivity across gender and official roles. The study recommends enhancing communication, accountability, and collaborative decision-making between LGUs and barangay officials to further improve program responsiveness and strengthen grassroots governance in Iloilo.
