EMERGING FRONTIERS OF NANOTECHNOLOGY IN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING: INNOVATIONS AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force in biomedical engineering, enabling novel solutions to some of the most persistent challenges in healthcare. This paper presents a comprehensive review of innovative approaches to nanotechnology in biomedical engineering, focusing on four primary areas: drug delivery, diagnostics, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. The unique physicochemical properties of nanomaterials have made them ideal candidates for targeted and controlled drug delivery, leading to improved efficacy and reduced side effects. In diagnostics, nanoparticles offer enhanced sensitivity and specificity, enabling earlier and more accurate disease detection. In tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, nanoscale scaffolds and bioactive materials are driving new possibilities for tissue repair and organ regeneration. Despite these advances, challenges such as biocompatibility, toxicity, and manufacturing scalability remain significant barriers to clinical translation. This paper discusses current innovations, examines associated limitations, and suggests future research directions necessary to overcome these obstacles and optimize nanotechnology's potential in medicine.
