Three-layer membrane designed for integration into tissue products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, etc.).

The innovation is a three-layer membrane designed for integration into tissue products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, etc.).The integation provides localized, one-sided moistening upon pressing, turning any tissue product into a two-sided “wet/dry” system. With light mechanical pressure, the moisturizing composition is metered through the micro-valve slit layer (a partial-depth, valve-like array of micro-slits/pre-perforation) to wet the adjacent paper layer on the side opposite the point of pressing, while the side on which pressure is applied remains dry due to the non-slitted barrier layer. The solution is compatible with standard tissue manufacturing lines, preserves the familiar usage format, and requires no change in consumer behavior. The membrane is made from biodegradable, water-dispersible (flush-friendly) PVOH films and a safe, application-specific composition that can be tailored to multiple use cases, including: Hygienic/Care (toilet paper): hydrating, cleansing, whitening, soothing blends (e.g., aloe vera, chamomile/bisabolol, panthenol), gentle surfactants, deodorizing agents; hemorrhoid-relief care formulas. Cosmetic (facial wipes/napkins): make-up removal and skin-care blends (micellar systems, mild cleansers, toning/soothing actives). Sanitary/Household (paper towels): pre-loaded cleaning and polishing compositions for kitchen, glass, and furniture surfaces. Screening aids (toilet paper): color cues for hemoglobin and pH to prompt early attention to possible colorectal issues. Colorectal cancer is among the leading causes of cancer mortality worldwide. The core challenge is late detection: early stages are frequently asymptomatic. Integrating a color cue into routine toilet-paper use provides an early-attention signal during an everyday act: a visible change (e.g., in the presence of trace blood or abnormal pH) prompts medical evaluation and confirmatory testing. No additional steps or behavior change are required to receive the cue. This is not a diagnostic test and does not determine disease. It functions as a screening aid intended to trigger timely follow-up with healthcare professionals.
