Relation of Serum 5‐LOX, Angiotensin Macromolecules, and Some Biochemical Parameters Levels in Renal Failure Patients
ABSTRACT During the current study, 60 serum samples of people with renal failure were collected before dialysis and performed chemistry measurements that included calcium, magnesium, potassium, urea, creatinine, uric acid and vitamin B12, in addition to estimating the activity of 5 Lipoxygenase (5‐LO/LOX) and angiotensin II, the results showed that the level of vitamin B12 and calcium was significantly lower in patients with renal failure compared to the control group at a probability level of p < 0. In addition, the level of lipoxygenase‐5 was significantly lower in renal failure patients than in healthy people at p < 0.001, while the concentration of magnesium, potassium, urea, creatinine, uric acid, and angiotensin was significantly higher in renal failure patients than in the control group at a probability level of p < 0.001. The results of the effect of gender on the studied variables showed that the angiotensin hormone was significantly higher in males compared to females, while the activity of lipoxygenase‐5 was lower in males compared to females, which indicates the effect of gender on the incidence of renal failure.
