The Effectiveness of the Waste Bank Program on Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour
The low level of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) and inadequate waste management remain challenges in densely populated environments such as Pasar Bengkulu. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Waste Bank program in improving community PHBS. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was applied, involving 50 respondents divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in PHBS scores after the intervention (p = 0.001), particularly in indicators related to waste sorting and participation in environmental education. The improvement reflects the success of educational and participatory approaches within the Waste Bank program. It is concluded that community-based programs are effective in promoting healthy behavior and can be adopted as environmental intervention models in similar regions.
