Cataloguing Compact Sources for Star Formation Rate studies in MERGHERS Pilot Fields
The MeerKAT Exploration of Relics, Giant Halos, and Extragalactic Radio Sources (MERGHERS) survey targets galaxy clusters across various mass and redshift ranges, with relatively short (∼1–2 hr) integration times. While its primary aim is to study diffuse radio emission within clusters, MeerKAT’s sensitivity and spatial resolution also enable a diverse set of scientific investigations from a single pointing. To maximize the scientific potential of the MeerKAT data, we have produced comprehensive source catalogues with high purity and completeness for the initial MERGHERS pilot targets. These catalogues can support a wide range of galaxy science applications, such as star formation rate studies and searches for high-redshift radio galaxies. Here, we present star formation rate results for a subset of MERGHERS clusters, based on our combined catalogue containing over eight thousand sources.
