The main objective of this study was examining the impact of empowerment practices on employees’ job satisfaction in Commercial Bank of Ethiopia with special emphasis to Dire Dawa City. The study applied a quantitative research approach via employing descriptive and explanatory research designs to quench the specific and general objectives of the study. The researcher used proportionate stratified random sampling technique to select 219 employee respondents. Moreover, survey method through cross-sectional method of inquiry was employed to distribute and gather structured questionnaire from respondents of the study. Both descriptive and multiple linear regression (OLS) statistical analysis methods were employed to analyze the data. The descriptive statistics result showed that overall job satisfaction of respondents was with mean of 3.4 and the standard deviation of 0.53 implying that respondents’ job satisfaction can be ranked as an average level. The greater majority (81.9%) of the respondents also reported that they have some level of empowerment to make decision on particular activities in their work. Moreover, the multiple linear regression result indicated that all facets of empowerment significantly predicting job satisfaction particularly information sharing and trust are most significantly predicting job satisfaction followed by training, rewards and autonomy. More specifically, the R square value of the regression model is 0.861which indicates that 86.1% of the variance in overall job satisfaction is explained by the five facets of empowerment. Generally, the result shows that all facets of empowerment have a significant influence over employees’ job satisfaction. Therefore, CBE should give due attention to those empowerment strategies to boost the job satisfaction of bankers.
