Potential uses of micropigmentation (permanent makeup) in medical and psycho-emotional rehabilitation
Micropigmentation (permanent makeup) is a minimally invasive procedure in which pigment is implanted into the superficial layers of the skin to create a lasting visual effect. Initially used in aesthetic cosmetology, this technique has gained recognition in medical practice as well. Of particular importance is its application in the reconstruction of the nipple-areola complex in patients after mastectomy, the camouflage of scars of various origins, and the correction of depigmented areas in vitiligo. Aesthetic dermapigmentation contributes not only to the restoration of appearance but also to the reduction of post-traumatic stress, an increase in self-esteem, and an overall improvement in the quality of life of patients. This article reviews current clinical data and the proven effectiveness of the method in medical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as highlighting indications, limitations, and prospects for the development of micropigmentation within a multidisciplinary approach. The need for standardisation of procedures and enhanced professional training of specialists is also discussed.
