The Witch as Indigenous
Abstract In the green tide feminist movement in Argentina, spiritual elements are integrated into feminist politics through the figure of the Witch. By analysing the green tide feminist knowledge production, the paper examines the discursive strategies that constitute the Witch as the green tide’s spirituality. The Witch is produced as a figure of radical alterity to colonial modernity able to ‘re-enchant the world’. However, I argue that the green tide discourse of a feminist spirituality with anticolonial potential is possible through unacknowledged racial/colonial tropes of Indigeneity that risk leaving unaddressed the racial colonial history of Indigenous People in Argentina and their contemporary struggles.
