The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education and Future Skills Development: A Mixed-Methods Analysis of Student and Educator Perspectives
This study examines the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education and future skills development through a mixed-methods analysis integrating quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data were collected from 40 participants, 35 students and 5 educators, via an online survey exploring adoption patterns, perceived benefits, and emerging challenges associated with AI tools in learning environments. Findings indicate near-universal AI adoption (98%), with ChatGPT emerging as the most widely used platform (43%), followed by Gemini (31%). Approximately 88% of respondents reported positive effects on their learning performance, emphasizing AI’s role in personalized learning support, efficiency, and accessibility. However, participants also expressed concerns about excessive reliance on AI and the potential decline in critical thinking and creativity. Notably, 86% of respondents demonstrated interest in formal AI training programs, underscoring the growing demand for structured AI literacy within educational institutions. The study concludes that while AI integration in education is widespread and generally perceived as beneficial, effective implementation requires ethical awareness, pedagogical balance, and institutional guidance. The findings contribute empirical evidence to the educational technology literature and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers, teachers, and institutions aiming to promote responsible and equitable AI use in learning environments.
