ABSTRACT This paper examined the issues and challenges surrounding elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country facing recurring political crises, specifically crises of legitimacy affecting its institutions and their leaders. Presented as the only means of legitimizing political power, elections are a lever for change and development. However, it must be noted that after the era of coups, dictatorships, and rebellions that put an end to the embryonic democracies that emerged at the dawn of independence, and the advent of its first elections in 2006, the phenomenal election is struggling to meet the challenge of the crisis of legitimacy, and all hopes have been dashed.
