The Digital Role of the Directorate of Religious Affairs in Global Plans Post-2025
This paper explores the evolving digital strategies and initiatives of the Directorate of Religious Affairs beyond 2025, focusing on their anticipated global impact and the integration of emerging technologies. It examines how digital transformation, particularly through artificial intelligence and advanced digital platforms, will redefine religious practices and communication on a global scale (Munibi et al., 2025). This includes analyzing the Directorate's potential role in leveraging AI for nuanced interpretations of sacred texts and facilitating spiritual guidance through intelligent systems, thereby addressing the profound impact of technology on theological discourse and religious observance (Putrawan, 2025). Furthermore, this analysis delves into the ethical considerations and potential biases embedded within AI algorithms when applied to religious contexts, particularly concerning the reliability of AI in translating and interpreting sacred texts (Alkhouri, 2024) (Maha et al., 2025). The study also investigates how AI can enhance the accessibility of religious knowledge, offering personalized learning experiences and assisting educators in managing and delivering teaching materials in Islamic religious education (Salim & Aditya, 2025). It also considers the implications of AI on shaping the Islamic worldview within the digital economy, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts between computer scientists and Islamic theologians to integrate ethical values into AI development (Firnando & Wahyudi, 2024) (Alkhouri, 2024). This necessitates a framework that aligns AI development with Islamic ethical principles such as Tawḥīd, Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, Ihsan, and ʿAdl, ensuring fairness, moral excellence, and the safeguarding of fundamental human interests in technological advancements (Kannike & Fahm, 2025). This paper also assesses the Directorate's proactive measures to mitigate the time lag between rapid technological advancements and human adaptation, especially concerning artificial intelligence and its influence on religious practices (Ty, 2023). This includes exploring how the Directorate can harness AI for improved accessibility and efficiency in disseminating religious guidance, while concurrently addressing the challenges of maintaining contextual nuance and human empathy in automated responses (Ahmed, 2024). This proactive approach ensures that the spiritual and ethical dimensions of religious practice are preserved amidst increasing digital integration, while also leveraging AI to enhance the reach and effectiveness of religious education and guidance (Salim & Aditya, 2025).
