Euthanasia: An Islamic, Ethical, and Medical Perspective

Euthanasia is a present-day problem in the field of medical as well as from a legal and religious perspective. Since there are different angles and opinions regarding this dilemma, it is necessary to know all its implications. Pakistan being an Islamic Republic, it is crucial for us to understand the religious angle that is in line with the medical and ethical dimension. The primary source of guidance for Muslims is the Holy Quran which is the most authentic and reliable. In this research we studied the Quranic verses regarding the rising problem of Euthanasia and our secondary sources consisted of Fatwas from credible Muslim scholars along with published articles regarding the Islamic point of view. The methodology that we used was a qualitative study research with derived results. Our findings proved that Euthanasia is not only forbidden from a religious outlook but also wrongful from an ethical and medical viewpoint.
