Ergonomía en los especialistas quirúrgicos
OBJECTIVE: To describe the ergonomics of surgical specialists in the operating rooms of the Regional Hospital of Zacapa from June to July 2025. METHOD: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 30 surgeons and surgical staff from four operating rooms at the Regional Hospital of Zacapa. Participants were evaluated during their work shifts using the REBA scale and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. RESULTS: According to REBA, 76.67% showed a medium risk and 3.33% a high risk. A total of 83.33% reported lower back pain, 73.33% neck pain, and 46.7% wrist pain, with episodes lasting 1 to 24 hours in 40.00% to 43.33% of cases and 10.00% requiring 1 to 7 days off work. Additionally, 93.34% had not received ergonomic training, and 80.00% lacked appropriate ergonomic furniture. CONCLUSION: Most surgical specialists face a medium ergonomic risk, with frequent musculoskeletal discomfort, particularly in the lower back, neck, and wrists.
