Exploring the Hybrid Integration of Blockchain and Chatbot Technologies for Enhanced Record Verification and Traceability: A Systematic Literature Review.
In an era where digital trust and data authenticity have become essential, ensuring the integrity, traceability, and verifiability of records remains a fundamental challenge across sectors such as healthcare, education, insurance, agriculture, and food supply chains. Conventional record management systems, often centralized and prone to tampering, struggle to provide the transparency, auditability, and resilience required in modern data ecosystems. At the same time, intelligent chatbot technologies have emerged as transformative tools that enhance user interaction and data accessibility through conversational interfaces. However, these systems often lack verifiable assurance of the accuracy and authenticity of the information they deliver. This study presents a systematic literature review that critically examines the application of blockchain technologies for record verification and traceability, the role of chatbots in data access and management, and existing efforts to integrate both technologies within hybrid architectures. A total of 1,995 peer-reviewed studies were systematically reviewed and analysed thematically. The findings reveal that while blockchain provides decentralization, immutability, and secure record provenance, chatbots offer real-time communication, automation, and improved user experience. Yet, research on frameworks that combine these technologies remains limited. Most existing hybrid models are either conceptual or narrowly domain-specific, lacking scalability, cross-sector interoperability, and practical validation. In response to these gaps, this study proposes the Aziel Blockchain Hybrid Framework; a novel, multi-sectoral architecture that integrates a permissioned blockchain for secure and traceable record storage with intelligent chatbot systems deployed through platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and web interfaces. The framework incorporates digital signature verification, smart contract-based automation, and a GUI dashboard to support real-time interaction and administrative oversight.
