Cover Feature: Dimers and 2D Networks of Adamantane‐Related Ternary Organosilicon Coinage Metal Sulfide Clusters (Chem. Eur. J. 52/2024)

Ternary adamantane-related Cu/Si/S and Ag/Si/S clusters were obtained by reactions of [(PhSi)4S6] (A) with CuCl and 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane (dppb) to form [{(dppbCu2)CuP(Ph2)(CH2CH2)(PhSi)3S6}2], a unique dppb-bridged dimer of ternary clusters, and with [AgCl(PMe2Ph)2]2 to form [Na2(thf)1.5][(Me2PhPAg)(PhSi)3S6], which assembles into an unprecedented 2D coordination polymer through the Na+ cations. The studies illustrate a generally similar reaction behavior and product spectrum for the two coinage metal ions, but also highlight the subtle influence that affords related, yet different compounds. Abstract

More information can be found in the Research Article by S. Dehnen and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202401656).
