Cover Feature: Aromaticity in the Spectroscopic Spotlight of Hexaphyrins (Chem. Eur. J. 52/2024)
The Cover Feature represents work on the connection between aromaticity and absorption spectra in porphyrinoids. Hexaphyrins were put under a spectroscopic spotlight, colored by (anti)aromaticity. Contrary to previous studies that link weak spectra to antiaromatic porphyrinoids, our green antiaromatic [28]hexaphyrin exhibits a peak as intense as our aromatic red [26]hexaphyrin. We recommend using both global and local aromaticity descriptors from different criteria to assess expanded porphyrins, rather than relying solely on absorption spectra.
