From External Framework to Lived Practice: A Reflection on Becoming Undisciplined
This paper, written for MAIS 601: Interdisciplinary Theory and Practice, traces the author’s intellectual and personal journey toward becoming an undisciplined thinker. It explores how theory can move from an external framework to an embodied and relational practice of knowing. Drawing on thinkers such as Gayatri Spivak, Herbert Marcuse, bell hooks, and the becoming undisciplined collective, the essay reflects on decolonial ethics, recursive learning, and the development of self-authored frameworks including Epistemic Recursive Emergence (ERE) and Sheafed Postural Hyperframing (SPH). The reflection situates theory as lived praxis rather than abstraction—knowledge that emerges through participation, uncertainty, and ethical relation.
