Sustainable Synthesis of Iron Oxide Using Plumeria alba Flowers: Enhanced Dye Removal and Its Antimicrobial Activity
This paper focuses on the green synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles using Plumeria alba flower extract as a sustainable reducing agent. The method of characterizing the nanoparticles using XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDX, TGA, and UV-visible spectroscopy confirmed the crystalline structure, functional groups, morphology, elemental composition, thermal stability, and optical properties of nanoparticles. Photocatalytic studies demonstrated efficient methylene violet dye degradation under sunlight and UV light, 60 and 50 % of removal attained by UV followed by sunlight. Antimicrobial tests showed strong microbial inhibition towards positive and negative microorganisms. These outcomes show the potential of using Plumeria alba nanoparticles in the eco-friendly approach for environmental remediation and controlling microbes.
