Borneo Health Innovation: AI at Sarawak Cancer Hospital

This study examines the development of health innovation in Borneo with a focus on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) at the Sarawak Cancer Hospital. Using qualitative methods through content analysis, data were collected from various online sources such as official media reports, health portals, and government institution websites. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify the implementation patterns of AI technology in the cancer treatment system, the level of readiness of the state’s medical institutions, and the challenges faced in the digital transformation of health. Findings indicate that the use of AI has the potential to accelerate early diagnosis of cancer, improve treatment efficiency, and support Sarawak’s aspiration to become a leader in health innovation in the Borneo region. This study provides an initial overview of the role of AI in strengthening the public health system and high tech health development policies in East Malaysia.
