DIGITAL TOOLS AND PLATFORMS FOR NURTURING TEACHER EDUCATION: OBSTACLES AND SOLUTIONS
In the 21st century, often referred to as the digital era, teachers are expected to be proficient in digital skills to meet the evolving demands of education. Technology integration at all educational levels is emphasized in the National Education Policy 2020 for the teaching-learning process. Digital tools and platforms are crucial for nurturing teachers' professional development. Digital tools and platforms allow pre-service and in-service teachers to develop and improve their subject-matter expertise and pedagogical skills. Digital tools and platforms equip educators with the skills to identify areas for improvement, assist in monitoring their progress, offer an immersive experience, enable them to practice all professional tasks in the workplace, and educate them about global issues that improve their ability to deliver high-quality instruction while reducing the difficulties associated with accessibility and inclusivity in the classroom. The digital tools and platforms that are useful for nurturing teacher education are explored in this paper. This paper also discusses the obstacles to incorporating digital tools and platforms into teacher education and offers ways to get beyond them.
