Legal Protection Analysis of Teledentistry Use in Dental Practice Based on Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health: A Professional Ethics Perspective

In the era of Society 5.0, developments in information and communication technology have brought significant transformations to the healthcare sector, including dental practice through the implementation of teledentistry. Teledentistry enables the provision of dental healthcare services remotely via digital media, thereby expanding public access to dental healthcare services, particularly in remote areas. While offering convenience, the use of teledentistry raises complex legal and ethical challenges, particularly regarding patient data protection, the legal responsibility of dentists, and the quality of the doctor-patient relationship. This study aims to analyze legal protection in teledentistry practices based on Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health, with a focus on professional ethics and the professional responsibility of dentists. The method used is a normative legal approach, involving an analysis of regulations, legal literature, and medical ethics. The results of the study indicate that current regulations are still insufficient in detailing teledentistry practices, particularly regarding digital data security, standards for remote diagnosis procedures, and mechanisms for online medical consent. Therefore, comprehensive regulatory and ethical guidelines are needed to ensure that teledentistry practices are conducted safely, ethically, and responsibly by Indonesian legal standards and dental professionalism.
