The Impact of the Purpose of a Company’s Consulting Participation and the Consultant’s Capabilities on Performance : Focusing on the Mediation Effect of the Specificity of Consulting Requirements

Purpose This study explores and presents what small and medium-sized companies need to introduce smart factories or build smart factories to achieve meaningful leadership performance with the support of external experts.Methods For the introduction and construction of smart factories, a questionnaire was distributed to companies supported by government support experts, and SPSS 23.0 were used for statistical processing of 326 collected data.Results The purpose of the company’s participation. and the competence of the consultant were all found to have a significant effect on the performance of consulting support. In particular, it was confirmed that the specification of consulting requirements is a very important factor that plays a mediating role not only between the purpose and leadership of the project but also between the job competency and leadership of the consultant.Conclusion It is necessary to select and support companies with a clear objectives of participating in the project and who present specific and detailed tasks to be solved in order to improve the performance of consulting support for a company's introduction and construction of smart factories. In addition, securing and dispatching experts with all competencies as consultants will improve the performance of consulting support for Smart Factory construction.
