Assessment of body recovery in female football players in relation to well-being, sleep quality and stress level

<ns3:p>Background. Quality and effectiveness of biological regeneration in sport is dependent on many factors like sleep, stress level and well-being. Professional sports clubs, as a rule, provide their players with the right conditions for regeneration, but the situation may be different in amateur teams. Women football becomes more and more popular, so the main aim of this study was to assess the availability of biological regeneration methods and biogeneration of female athletes in relation to the quality of their sleep and well-being. Material and methods. The study involved 110 athletes, average age 21.954.7 years, from Polish football teams performing at the professional and amateur level. The study was conducted by a survey. The following research tools were used, the WHO5 questionnaire (assessment of quality of life, well-being), PSQI (assessment of sleep quality) and SRSS (assessment of recovery and stress). Results. The study showed that players playing at the professional level have the greatest access to wellness methods, while the situation definitely needs to be improved in amateur clubs. The majority of players measured their well-being at good level, however over half of the respondents had bad sleep quality. Many statistically significant correlations were found between the variables studied, including that the level of recovery depended on sleep quality, well-being assessment and stress level (p<0,001). Conclusions. The availabity of biological regeneration methods in women football amateur clubs must be increased. It is good to intensify actions directed at education about sleep hygiene and its influence on body recovery. Also implementation of methods which can decrease the stress level will be a good solution for football players.</ns3:p>
