NEURO-PHYSICAL LITERACY: A THEMATIC FRAMEWORK FOR INTEGRATING NEUROSCIENCE, MOVEMENT, AND EDUCATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY
The integration of neuroscience into educational practices has reshaped the way learning and cognition are conceptualized. However, physical education has rarely been examined through a neuroscientific lens. This paper introduces the concept of Neuro-Physical Literacy, a framework that unites brain-based learning, physical activity, and pedagogy. Instead of presenting empirical evidence, the study synthesizes insights from diverse disciplines-neuroscience, motor learning, and education—to propose a fresh theoretical model. The framework underscores the interconnected role of movement, cognition, and emotional regulation in advancing holistic education. It argues that physical education should extend beyond fitness or skill development and be recognized as a cognitive and neurological facilitator essential to 21st-century learning. This thematic framework provides a foundation for further research and curriculum innovation, offering meaningful directions for educators, researchers, and policymakers to align physical education with neuroscientific insights.
