Ptychopterum Gnezdilov, 2025, gen. nov.

Genus Ptychopterum gen. nov. Type species: Hysteropterum dolichotum Gnezdilov et Mazzoni, 2004; by present designation. Diagnosis. Robust. Metope wide, with distinct median and sublateral carinae. Coryphe short, transverse, four times as wide as long medially. Fore wings wide, convex, not narrowing apically in lateral view, with wide hypocostal plate. Forewing vein sequence: R 2, M 3, CuA 1. Hind wings rudimentary. Phallobase curved at nearly right angle (in lateral view), with pair of long and narrow subapical processes (Fig. 7). Aedeagus with pair of long ventral hooks directed downwards. Style with strongly convex hind margin and short neck of capitulum, lateral tooth large (Fig. 10). Capitulum of style narrow in dorsal view (Fig. 9). Male anal tube elongate (Fig. 8). Male anal column long, almost half as long as anal tube. Hind margin of female sternite VII weakly concave medially. Female anal tube elongate and flat. Gonoplacs large, with smooth lateral carinae. Median field of posterior connective laminae of gonapophyses IX with a large single lobe. Gonocoxa VIII with weakly lobe-shaped hind margin. Etymology. Generic name is an amalgamation of Greek πτυχή (fold) and πτερόν (wing). Neutral in gender referring to wrinkly fore wings. Composition and distribution. Monotypic genus known from France, Italy, and Spain (Gnezdilov 2010; Gnezdilov & Mazzoni 2004; Maryańska-Nadachowska et al. 2006).

Abstract

Coryphe short, transverse, four times as wide as long medially. Fore wings wide, convex, not narrowing apically in lateral view, with wide hypocostal plate. Forewing vein sequence: R 2, M 3, CuA 1.
