THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CLIL (CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING) IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS
The growing need for bilingual education and global communication skills has made Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) one of the most innovative approaches in modern pedagogy. CLIL integrates subject content and foreign language learning within the same instructional process, allowing students to acquire both cognitive and linguistic competencies simultaneously. This paper examines the effectiveness of CLIL in secondary schools, analyzing its pedagogical foundations, practical benefits, and implementation challenges. The study highlights the impact of CLIL on students’ language proficiency, motivation, and subject understanding, emphasizing the teacher’s role, appropriate methodology, and the importance of scaffolding in bilingual classrooms. The results indicate that CLIL enhances students’ linguistic accuracy, subject knowledge, and critical thinking when properly supported by teacher training and curriculum design.
