"I Want to Be a President!": Nurturing Leadership Aspirations Through Early Childhood Education in Tavantang Approach
This study examines how the Tavantang Approach fosters leadership aspirations in early childhood education through culturally grounded storytelling and experiential learning. Focusing on preschool children aged 4–6, the research explores how narrative-based activities, role-play, and collaborative problem-solving experiences shape children’s sense of agency, confidence, and responsibility. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected from classroom observations, teacher and parent interviews, and children’s creative outputs. The findings reveal that the Tavantang Approach effectively encourages young learners to envision themselves as capable leaders by linking local cultural values with modern leadership concepts. The study underscores the importance of integrating culturally responsive pedagogy in nurturing early leadership development and civic-mindedness.
