Digital Finance Impact on Financial Inclusion and Stability in Malaysia

Abstract: This conceptual paper explores the impact of digital finance on financial inclusion and financial stability in Malaysia. The rapid growth of mobile technologies, digital platforms, and innovative financial products has transformed access to payments, savings, credit, and insurance. Digital finance offers opportunities to bridge financial gaps for underserved groups, including low-income households and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), by reducing barriers such as transaction costs, distance, and documentation requirements. In the Malaysian context, initiatives such as mobile banking and digital payment solutions have accelerated financial access and participation, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. This paper proposes a conceptual framework positioning financial literacy as a mediating factor between digital finance and financial inclusion outcomes. By synthesizing key literature, the study highlights how digital finance can drive inclusive growth while ensuring sustainable financial stability, laying a foundation for future empirical research. Keywords: Digital Finance, Financial Inclusion, Financial Stability, Financial Literacy, Malaysia
