SEMANTIC CHANGE IN MODERN ENGLISH VOCABULARY
This study examines the phenomenon of semantic change in modern English vocabulary, focusing on how words acquire new meanings in response to cultural, technological, and social developments. Using examples from media, technology, and popular culture, the research identifies common types of semantic change such as broadening, narrowing, amelioration, pejoration, and metaphorical extension. The findings suggest that semantic change is a continuous process reflecting the dynamic nature of human communication and social evolution.
