The Lasting Wounds of Addiction: A Family's Struggle with Trauma and Social Injustice.
The family has four children. Ringer is the oldest son of the family with one child, Leona, who is a mother of three, Alish, who has also an infant, and the youngest brother, Alvin, who is preparing to go to high school in Chicago. He is a star athlete at Arkansas and Northern Illinois University with his mother, Joanette, who is so accountable for the terrible, sad, and havoc that her children went through in the period of her addiction. She went to jail several times and came back, but she was not learning her lesson until the time she was taken to prison, which made life so hard for these children while growing up. In all the relatives like cousins, aunts, grandfathers, wherever they went, they couldn't get the necessities of life like food at their aunts' place, they could eat sugar bread and peanuts, no clothes, scholastic materials, tuition, bus fare, shelter, they ended up on the streets and became drug dealers when they were still young. This family have the grief of their brother Jackie who was a basketball player with such a talent he befriend a thief and was taking weed while driving a stolen car and was shot dead, all of them gave up on their dreams because of social injustices where their mother was taken to prison and they were not taken care about so they couldn't get the opportunities of attending schools and started fighting for their survival. The struggle and pain during childhood caused by drug addiction in this family will remain as wounds and stigma forever.
