Livelihood improvement of households in rural areas through the promotion of sustainable natural farming models

This poster, presented at the Johns Hopkins University Sustainability Symposium 2025, explores how sustainable Natural Farming (NF) practices can improve rural livelihoods in Central Vietnam. The study examines the implementation of the NF model in Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province, where 1,000 farming households were trained in chemical-free methods using Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO). Results indicate that 91.5% of participating households increased their income and improved environmental outcomes. The poster situates NF within the broader framework of agroecology and permaculture, highlighting its potential for enhancing soil fertility, community resilience, and food security while aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Keywords:Natural farming, sustainable agriculture, rural development, Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO), Vietnam, World Vision, KOICA, SDGs, agroecology, permaculture
