AI and Linguistic Equity in Multilingual Education: From Translation to Empowerment

This research brief explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can promote linguistic equity in multilingual education. It introduces the AI-Equity Language Framework — Translation → Adaptation → Empowerment — which guides educators in integrating AI ethically and inclusively. Drawing from multilingual classrooms in Lebanon and international studies, the paper highlights how AI tools such as ChatGPT, DeepL, Whisper, and Google Translate help learners access, adapt, and express knowledge across languages. Rather than replacing teachers, AI acts as a pedagogical partner that supports translation, personalizes learning, and empowers student voice. By emphasizing equity over efficiency, the framework positions AI as a bridge between languages, cultures, and opportunities — ensuring every learner’s voice is heard.
